MTPA Hosts A FAM Trip for the Indian Wedding Planners

“Once in a while, in the middle of an ordinary life, love gives us a fairytale.” The wedding day holds great significance in one’s life…everything must be picture perfect and memorable. The Big Fat Indian Wedding aims to achieve just that. The locales in Mauritius cast a spell and provide the perfect start to a wonderful journey ahead.  A destination wedding is as luxurious as it is expensive and hence spinning this magic costs a pretty buck. Naturally, the target segment has to be selected accordingly.

Recently, in mid-March, the Mauritius Tourism Promotion Authority (MTPA) in collaboration with Air Mauritius hosted a FAM trip for 10 wedding planners. The aim was to showcase Mauritius as a wedding destination and a step beyond – from inception to conception. They visited several hotels and other venues suitable for holding Big Fat Indian Weddings. A second group of approximately ten Indians will be in Mauritius in May.

“Last year, the country attracted no fewer than six ‘Big Fat Indian Weddings’. For 2017, four to five marriages are already planned, “says Vivek Anand, Country Manager-India for the MTPA. Did I mention Indian weddings last seven days? In India, marriages are getting costlier and more lavish. The future spouses and their families are all in search of a unique experience.

“A journey to find true love ends…a journey to cherish true love begins. As the heavens are stable, and the earth is stable. As the mountains are stable, and the whole universe is stable, so is a union permanently settled.”
