Strengthening India relationship reflects at Mauritius 50th Independence Day celebrations

The Indian Ocean republic of Mauritius celebrated its golden jubilee of Independence here. The Independence Day parade and cultural show, reflecting the life and history of Mauritius was held at Champ de Mars Racecourse, Port Louis. President of India, Ram Nath Kovind was the Chief Guest at this year’s Independence Day celebrations.
The growing India-Mauritius political and trade relationships reflected at the Independence Day celebrations. The participation of the Indian Navy and Air Force contingents lent colour to the show. Indian Naval helicopters and demonstration by Sarang helicopters of Indian Air Force truly showcased India’s military might to the islanders. A drill by air warrior team of Indian Air Force was another show stopper at the parade.Earlier, India and Mauritius signed MoUs for mutual cooperation in many areas related to culture, research and education, sharing of knowledge, etc.

In his statement after signing the MoUs, PM of Mauritius also underlined the importance of India as a strategic partner in creating ‘a new Mauritius’ which is built on new pillars of innovation and advancement that is inclusive.
