Mauritius records 15% growth in Indian arrivals in 2016

With 83,000 Indians visiting Mauritius in 2016, the island destination has recorded a growth of 15% from India, said Vivek Anand, Country Manager – India, Mauritius Tourism Promotion Authority (MTPA) at the seminar organised for the travel trade members of Mumbai. “We have noted an increasingly number of Indians travelling to Mauritius from Tier-II cities. Along with FITs and family travellers, the corporate segment has shown great potential in the last few years. MICE alone contributed to 15% of the total arrivals from India in 2016.” With Air Mauritius operating direct four-weekly flights from Mumbai, and twice a week from New Delhi, Bengaluru and Chennai, and Mauritius offering free visa on arrival to Indians, MTPA is ambitious of achieving the double digit growth in number of Indian travellers to Mauritius in 2017.

MTPA along with Air Mauritius organised a seminar for the Mumbai travel trade where representatives from InterContinental Balaclava Fort, Seaside Holidays, Travstarz Holiday and Destination Pvt Ltd, Akquason Group – Mauritius, Sun Resorts & Hotels Mauritius, Solis Indian Ocean Limited and My Value Travel spoke about their properties and services and encouraged the travel trade to sell and promote Mauritius.
